Grafton Greyhound form guide

RACE 1: PHIL MCLENNAN EARTHMOVING STAKES

Good quality 305m race to get the day started here with a number of chances. Without a lot of confidence I will select Tory Lass (3) on top. She has plenty of early speed, a wide runner on her outside and she should be good each way odds. Caramel Trick (1) saluted at $46 last week from box 4 in 17.65 seconds and no reason why she can’t repeat the dose from box 1, tough to beat. Knocka’s Barmaid (2) impressively won her only race start in 17.68 seconds and there is no reason she can’t make it 2 from 2 today. Throw in Echo Lad (6) for 4th but he is poorly drawn today.

3-1-2-6

RACE 2: WESTLAWN FINANCE STAKES

Penny Adios (7) loves the 305m start, loves a wide draw and she has both of these going for her today. She is a reliable beginner and looks a good hope in this after a close 2nd to Zuko Firebender here last run in 17.54sec. Orara Jack (8) is the class runner in this by far but I can’t see how he will get around them today and he will be favourite, too good to leave out however. Don’t be surprised if Surf Blaster (1) runs a bold race at odds off box 1 while Silver Fox (4) has good early speed and not without a hope.

7-8-1-4

RACE 3: CLARENCE VALLEY SHEDS MAIDEN

I keep tipping Elly Mae Trick (1) and I keep getting it wrong but if she doesn’t get away with this event today I can’t tip her again. Has pace, is stepping up to 407m for the first time but should lead. Bullocky Boy (7) ran a solid 2nd here to Barrons Best last week btn 5lens in 23.50sec and has some claims. Splash Of Paint (8) could well be the knockout runner in this. Forget her last start failure at Lismore when finding plenty of bother. Looks suited out in the 8 box has some pace and could be the one each way if the right odds. Throw in Chasing Stars (5) for 4th.

1-7-8-5

RACE 4: CARTERS CANINE CAPERS MAIDEN

First starter Tetsuya (5) gets the nod here on the back of his close 2nd in a Perf Trial last week btn just a half head in 23.51sec. Led that trial but sections weren’t great so don’t take short odds. Cuddly Cloud (1) has mixed form in his short career thus far but this isn’t tough and is well drawn. Throw in Pure Monarch (8) and Star Andy (7) but not a lot is known about them. Tricky race, could have a blow out result.

5-1-8-7

RACE 5: BEAUREPAIRES STAKES

Sootica (4) can be hit and miss at the start but when she gets it right she can show a stack of early pace. Not a lot of pace inside her and looks a nice each way wager. Bit Smart (3) is a sub 23 second winner here and will be the favourite. No reason why she can’t win and she has proven she likes this track, very tough to beat. One Shy (1) was a little slowly away last week then found trouble when trying to push forward. Once again he loves this track with 9 wins here and will be right in this while Shalana Magic (7) has plenty of ability but might have trouble getting across from her wide draw.

4-3-1-7

RACE 6: HIGHLAND PETFOODS STAKE

Struggling to find a winner in this one. If Lowndesy’s Law (2) is a runner he will be tough to beat but is a doubtful starter. Outside of him Mentawai (3) is the fastest runner but he will need to navigate a run out wide to show his best. If he gets to the outside without trouble he should win but don’t know how he will get out there. So hard top select one in this but will plump for Cindy Bond (4) to race on the pace and go very close. Thunder Vale (1) has plenty of pace but question mark on the sand, Late Storm (8) ran a handy race at Lismore last week but isn’t blessed with much early speed. Throw a dart in this one.

2-4-1-3

RACE 7: VILLAGE GREEN HOTEL FINAL

Top 4/5th grade final here with 5 or 6 legitimate chances. Lyndan Bear (1) ran a good 2nd to Petie Pie last week btn 2lens in 27.65sec after running on strongly, has hit the jackpot with box 1 and once again at each way odds you can’t go wrong. Who’s Fault (6) has plenty of early pace and she could just steal a break on them in this and if able to do so will go close. She has recorded 27.52sec here which is good enough. Petie Pie (2) won her heat in 27.65sec last week and has a real show while fastest heat winner Gordon Ghekko (5) is poorly drawn but very talented and stone Arch (4) is another which could lead but will need to do so.

1-6-2-5

RACE 8: J & C BULLEN ROOFING STAKES

This is a crackerjack field on paper with Dave Irwin holding the key with his 3 runners Imposing Jett (6), Bralyn County (4) and Orbison (7) clearly the class. Imposing Jett is a greyhound in form winning her past 2 at Albion Park and Lismore in good times and does have the pace to be prominent. Bralyn County needs to lift on his recent form but is good enough to do so and is drawn well enough in this. Belles Nightmare (8) has been racing well at Maitland in recent times and she has broken the 23sec mark here and can’t be discounted. Orbison holds the record here over 480m but is resuming from 5 months off. Watch the betting.

6-4-8-7

RACE 9: ALS MECHANICAL STAKES

Pretty keen on the chances of Nancy Trick (7) in this. Ran a great 2nd to the smart Caribbean Kid last week btn just 1.5lens in 23.18sec which was the best time of the day. Tough to beat. Jamie Lee Trick (8) missed the kick when in trouble here last week and she can begin much better than that. Form at Albion Park prior was great and must be respected. Hanify’s Gem (3) has won here in 23.22sec which would put her right in the finish while Red Hot Prince (1) will appreciate the draw.

7-8-3-1

RACE 10: SEDGERS REEF HOTEL STAKES

Real lack of early speed in this which should help Schapelle Trick (8) secure a nice run across from out wide and if able to do so will take plenty of stopping. Found trouble here last week so forget that run. Royal Victory (5) has only recorded 23.72sec when winning here but might be able to possie up early. Barrons Best (2) won a weak maiden last week in 23.50sec and although up in class is not out of it while Reverend Lyndan (7) ran a nice race for third last week but doesn’t have much early speed and does need an inside draw.
