Alleged 200kmh highway speedster refused bail

A DISQUALIFIED Gold Coast driver who allegedly led police on at least four pursuits reaching speeds in excess of 200kmh between Coffs Harbour and Ballina on Wednesday, has been refused bail in court.

Jason Lister, 24, was arrested at a Coolgardie property about 9.40 am on Wednesday after road spikes laid by police deflated a tyre on the white Toyota Landcruiser he allegedly stole from Townsend.

Lister was taken to Ballina police station, where he was charged with four counts of not stopping during a police pursuit (Skye's Law), two counts of steal motor vehicle, goods in custody, possession of a prohibited drug, and refused bail.

During an appearance at Ballina Local Court yesterday, Lister did not apply for bail, which was formally refused by Magistrate Robyn Denes.

Ms Denes adjourned Lister's matters until September 1 at Lismore Local Court.
