Body found on Gold Coast beach

THE body of  missing 14-year-old lifesaver Matthew Barclay has been found in the sea off the Gold Coast.

He disappeared under water yesterday afternoon while competing in the under-15 board race at the annual national championships at Kurrawa.

Minutes ago Queensland Premier Campbell Newman confirmed the boy's body was located in the ocean off Kurrawa Beach.

He was the third person to disappear at the event since 1996.
