ILUKA author Sue Cason has a new book published by Penguin, titled Rif and the Riddle.

It is one of the popular Aussie Bites series found in bookshops, libraries and schools throughout Australia.

Each Aussie Bite is designed to engage young readers with its simple text, high-quality illustrations and varied story lines. These short-chapter books are made for newly independent readers.

Rif and the Riddle is about Rif who lives with his mother and his grandfather in a small village. Rif and Grandpa Larrikin go fishing one morning and something happens that puts them in big trouble with their fellow villagers.

Rif sets out alone to make things right and meets a pair of tricksters, a mountain troll, a terrifying dog and a bewildering wise man. If he wants success, he must answer a difficult riddle.

The story is illustrated by South Australian Andrew Joyner, illus- trator and cartoonist with many national and international newspapers and magazines including The Sunday Age and The Sydney Morning Herald.

Sue and Andrew are delighted that Rif and the Riddle has been nominated in the 2013 Children's Book Council Awards Younger Reader section.
