BOOK: The 3rd Victim

AUTHOR: Sydney Bauer

PUBLISHER: Pan Macmillan

RRP: $32.99

AUTHOR Sydney Bauer is breathing new life into crime novels if The 3rd Victim is anything to go by.

If you like tense, gripping thrillers, then this book will appeal to you.

Take one of the most shocking elements in any crime novel, the murder of a small infant, add a mother who cannot remember when she last saw her baby and it adds up to one hell of a read.

In The 3rd Victim, lawyer David Cavanaugh is called to a missing person's case where the only clues are a distraught mother clutching onto the faint hope that her baby is still alive.

David doesn't want to touch it, not when the mother seems guilty.

But there is more to the mother's story than meets the eye and David soon realises she may not only be innocent of killing her daughter, but may also be the victim of a crime so vast and so clever that he may not be able to help her.

But as he fights to learn the truth, danger is closing in on him.

The 3rd Victim is a must for crime lovers.
