Derelict house to be removed
AN EYESORE which welcomes travellers into the Ulmarra CBD will soon be gone thanks to a budget allocation by Clarence Valley Council on Tuesday to demolish the derelict house.
The council approved $15,000 for the demolition of the 17 Coldstream St house and to "ready the lot for a possible future sale".
Council reacted to a number of complaints about the building and stated in Monday's business paper that the eventual replacement would be in character with the heritage values of the area.
In other budget alterations, $25,000 has been set aside to move a shed with heritage value from sold council land at Swan Creek (for a new road) to land being allocated for a new park at School Lane, Swan Creek.
The council also reallocated footpath maintenance allocations in Grafton ($55,500) to intersection blisters in Grafton and South Grafton plus a pedestrian access and mobility plan ($7500).
Some $50,000 for airconditioning at Grafton Library has been reallocated for the repair of tennis courts and fences at Dundurrabin and Lawrence.
