Eyeing World Sight Day
LOCAL optometrists joined thousands from around the world to celebrate World Sight Day yesterday.
"We support Optometry Giving Sight on an ongoing basis by donating fees for small spectacle repairs and encourage our clients to donate to Optometry giving sight," said Optometrist from Maclean Eyecare Plus, Ashley Seeto.
"For World sight day we will be donating $500 to Optometry Giving Sight, who use these funds to provide eyecare to people in third world countries."
Nearly 400 optometry practices around Australia participated in a month-long global fundraising campaign in an effort to end avoidable blindness.
Many will donate their eye exam fees for the day, invite their patients to make donations and hold practice events throughout the month.
