Grafton's best off to Sydney for Netball NSW State Cup

NETBALL: Our 2016 season has finally come to a close, ending a successful year with many well-earned victories and awards to those players who have excelled throughout the last six months. We'd like to congratulate not only our finalist teams and select award winners, but all teams in every grade, as their commitment and support to our association are what enable us to continue to prosper as a sporting community. Additionally, the dedication of our umpires should not go unnoticed, and we'd like to thank them for their efforts over the course of the season.

This weekend, Grafton Netball is sending their State League team off to Sydney to match up against the top netball sides in NSW in the newly formed State Cup. The Netball NSW State Cup is a 24-team Open Age competition. The top 17 Metro League teams and the seven Regional League winners from the 2016 season qualify for the Netball NSW State Cup, teams and will be divided into two pools of twelve teams. The team consists of Sam Austin, Karlie Chevalley, Bianca Dougherty, Amy Jones, Heidi Dalton, Kirby Danvers, Jasmine Rimene, Ashley King, Zali Webb, Stephanie Elliott and Jacynta Stoker. Coach Kim Blinman, assistant coach Tammy Thompson and manager Fiona Gordon are looking forward to this weekend's competition. We wish them the very best of luck.

Our next monthly meeting will be held on October 17. This meeting will be the last monthly meeting for this year, with the Annual General Meeting commencing immediately afterwards which will act to finalise our 2017 executive team. The list of nominees and their respective positions is available on our website for delegates viewing, as well as both team and individual winners from this year's Grand-final. We appreciate input from all member of our community, and actively encourage people to become more involved with our association. New perspectives are always welcome.

Netball Clinic

This clinic is a 7 week intensive program covering all aspects of netball. It will be open for all interested players turning 12, 13 and 14 in the year 2017 and will be held every Thursday 4:00-5:30pm, from October 13 to November 24. Senior Twilight Competition

All those wishing to nominate teams for this year's Twilight Competition will need to contact Brooke 0437426070 or message through Grafton Netball facebook page. Nominations close September 23.

Junior Twilight Competition

Grafton Netball Association is looking to run a twilight netball competition for players from the ages of 7 to 12 years. Games will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30pm at the netball courts in Bacon Street. Competition will commence on October 12 and finish November 30.

The cost will be $20 per team per game and teams are to supply their own umpire. The competition is open to current players and any person who would like to come and try netball, boys included.

North Coast Academy of Sport Trials

Applications are now open for all those who wish to be involved in this year's North Coast Academy of Sport trials. Athletes turning 13-18 in 2017 may apply for the Intensive Weekend. Only applicants turning 14-16 in 2017 are welcome to apply for trials. If you need to download the application form head to the North Coast Academy website
