SELECTING a winner for racing with astrology is really just another form of speculation or assumption.

Astrology is a methodology to help us determine the best constituents to use when taking a calculated risk.

As a result this doesn't automatically mean you'll be a winner, but you might boost your odds to some extent.

In saying this, the factors that seem important on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 3.22pm and which should to some degree have an influence on the Grafton Cup are, The ASC in Sagittarius, Moon in Taurus, trine to the Ascendant and Midheaven in Capricorn.

These factors would lead me to suggest that horses that have the colours purple plus varying shades of blue and the numbers one, three and nine or combinations thereof, associated them as well as names embodying freedom, power and hunting, luck and money are ones to watch.

Having said that I am putting my money on Warrior Within and Shamardashing with some thought for Trading Secrets.

Well, you never know!

But there are no absolutes, so let's hope fortune shines on the day.

That said, I wish you all the best of luck.
