Motorcyclist killed near Casino

A MOTORCYCLIST is dead and the Summerland Way is closed after the rider collided with a truck near Casino this afternoon.

The death comes after a horror week on Northern Rivers roads that has now left seven people dead in only five days.

This afternoon's crash occurred about 3pm, 3km south of Casino.

Police, fire brigades and NSW ambulance paramedics are on scene.

Local traffic diversions are in place and heavy vehicles are being diverted along the Pacific Highway at Grafton.

Detectives from the Ballina Crash investigations are on their way to examine the scene.

The crash comes after a woman was killed this morning when the car she was in hit a cement truck on Yamba Road at Yamba.

Two people died on Tuesday night, when a pedestrian was hit by a car on the Pacific Highway at Glenugie and a Casino man's car crashed into a tree at Naughtons Gap.

Three people were killed in two crashes on Monday - two men who died when the car they were in and another car collided on the Summerland Way at Leeville and another man whose car crashed into a guard rail on the Pacific Highway at Woodburn.
