Man to face court after missing child found

1.30PM: A 29 year-old man will face court later today after an alleged domestic dispute and sexual assault at Grafton yesterday.

A search for the man began after a four-year-old boy was collected from a local child care centre yesterday afternoon.

That search culminated this morning after police stopped a white Toyota Hilux 4WD on Bent Street at South Grafton just before 7.30am.

The child was found in the back of the car and showed no apparent signs of injury.

The four year old boy was reunited with his mother.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Grafton Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of sexual assault, breaching an apprehended violence order and indecent assault.

It will be alleged the sexual assault occurred after a domestic argument.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Grafton Local Court later this afternoon

7.45AM: Grafton police have found the missing four-year-old boy and arrested a man in Bent St, South Grafton this morning. The boy is said to be well and unhurt. Police will interview the man at Grafton Police Station.

6.30AM: The four-year-old boy taken from a childcare centre in Grafton yesterday has still not been located.

The boy was taken by his father, who was driving a white Toyota Hilux 4WD with NSW registration AY 44 NI.

The 29 year-old man was last seen wearing a black singlet with white trim and a pair of shorts. He is approximately 175cm tall, with a medium build, olive complexion and black hair.

Police are asking the public to be on the alert and report any sightings of this man.

10.30PM: NSW Police is seeking urgent public assistance to help locate a four-year-old boy who was taken from Grafton about seven hours ago.

About 3pm (Monday 2 June, 2014) a 29 year-old man was driving a white 2008 Toyota Hilux 4WD with NSW registration AY 44 NI, collected his son, from a childcare centre in Grafton.

The man is described as being of Mediterranean in appearance.

Police are asking the public to be on alert and report any sightings of this man or the utility he was driving.

Police are urging members of the public not to approach the man or the vehicle, but to contact police immediately.
