Raiders remain in finals race

THE Raiders kept their finals hopes alive with a tight 24-20 victory over Sydney Roosters at Canberra Stadium.

The hosts jumped into ninth place and progress to 26 points courtesy of the triumph, moving alongside Brisbane and Wests Tigers, who are inside the top eight via superior for-and-against.

Newcastle is still to play Manly this round and a win to the Knights will see them move ahead of the Raiders into the top half of the competition.

The Raiders and Roosters were deadlocked at 16-16 midway through the second half before the home side edged ahead following a converted Reece Robinson try in the 66th minute.

They moved eight points clear when Jarrod Croker kicked a penalty goal after Roosters full-back Anthony Minichiello was sent off for making contact with the head of opposite number Josh Dugan.
