She’ll be right: Motorist tries to drive banged-up car

NO WORRIES: This car was pulled over by police on the Pacific Highway near Grafton this morning, having crashed into a pole the night before.

IT IS said that a photo is worth a thousand words, but the image of a vehicle pulled over by police near Grafton this morning certainly brings up more questions than answers.

Grafton Highway Patrol police began receiving complaints from a number of motorists about a silver Ford Falcon driving north from Halfway Creek about 7.50am this morning.

Officers caught up with the clearly un-roadworthy vehicle about 10 minutes later near Bom Bom National Park, and spoke to the 39-year-old male driver.

The Pottsville man, who is known to police, told them he was trying to get the vehicle to Grafton after crashing the car into a pole "down south" the night before.

He had clearly taped one of the lights using duct tape in an attempt to keep the car together, and a local officer said there was debris wedged under the tyres.

Unrelated to the incident was a rolled up caravan awning protruding from the front passenger window.

Due to the unsafe and un-roadworthy condition of the car, police defected the vehicle and issued a red label notice requiring it to be towed from the scene.

The man was also issued $600 worth of fines for attempting to drive the vehicle.
