HOPE White enjoys ending a hard week at work with a glass of wine as much as the next person.

But the soon to be 30-year-old will be substituting her usual glass of vino for something non-alcoholic for the next four Fridays while raising money for a good cause.

Ms White is taking part in Ocsober, where people are encouraged to give up alcohol for October and raise money for Life Education.

In honour of turning the big 'three zero' in November, Ms White said she had been inspired to take on the challenge to set a good example for her two children. And while her husband said he would be giving up in support, Ms White joked she wasn't sure how long he would last.

"I do like to have a social drink on the weekend," she said.

"I'm studying fitness at TAFE and I see a lot more about what alcohol does, especially to your weight and health."

To avoid the temptation to cheat, Ms White said she had offered to be designated driver for family and friends for the next month. "I have family who don't think I can do it - now I have to.

Raising money for Life Education was also important, Ms White said. She has already raised more than $500 for the cause but hopes to reach $750.

Ms White and her husband brought their October anniversary celebrations forward a few days at the weekend in order to celebrate with a glass of wine in September.

Ocsober supports Life Education and their iconic mascot, Healthy Harold, who for 30 years has been empowering Aussie kids to make smart, healthy life choices free from the harms associated with drug misuse. For details visit ocsober.com.au.
