FORMER Brisbane Broncos premiership player Brad Thorn is set to play the final season of his illustrious career in the 2013 Super Rugby Championship with the Highlanders.

Thorn who will be 38 in February, is believed to have met Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph in Japan last month where they reached agreement on one final campaign.

Thorn was born in Mosgiel, south of Dunedin.

He made his debut for the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League competition in 1994 and went on to play 200 games for the club, as well as playing for Queensland and Australia.

In 2001 he made his first switch to rugby union, linking with the Canterbury Crusaders. He eventually played for the All Blacks, becoming just the second person to represent Australia in rugby league and New Zealand in rugby union.

He returned to Brisbane in 2005 and played in the Broncos premiership team in 2006. Thorn returned to the Crusaders at the end of 2007 and was part of the 2008 Super 14 championship team and the All Blacks team that won the 2011 World Cup.
