Prowd believes Noosa Triathlon field will be outstanding

USM Events founder Garth Prowd believes the showpiece of the Noosa Triathlon Multi-Sport Festival, the Noosa Triathlon, is set to attract its best field in years.

A host of the world's leading triathletes, including all three men's Olympic medallists, have indicated their intention to compete in the Olympic-distance race on November 4.

Gold and bronze medal-winning Britons Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee would be hard to beat.

"Both of them have indicated that they will come but there is still a little bit of discussion to take place before its confirmed 100 per cent," Prowd said.

"But at this point there's no reason to think they won't come.

"They'll both be in New Zealand for the world championships in October, so they will be in the vicinity."

Olympic silver medal winner Javier Gomez is eager to compete in the event, as are the women's gold and silver medal winners, Nicola Sprig and Lisa Norden.

"They all say they'd like to be here," Prowd said.

"It just depends at the end of the season, when injuries start to take their toll.

"Whichever way it goes, it will be way above the best field we've had for the last couple of years."

Prowd said the event did not have the financial clout to entice the globe's best triathletes but it did boast a strong reputation as an event and as a destination.
