GRAFTON'S favourite son, Troy Cassar-Daley, has claimed his first No.1 spot on the ARIA album chart with singing mate Adam Harvey.

Music website Noise11 reported Cassar-Daley and Harvey's new album, The Great Country Songbook, beat out Kanye West's latest offering Yeezus and Empire of the Sun's latest release Ice on the Dunes.

It's the first time the country crooners have reached No.1 although both have enjoyed Top 10 hits.

The Great Country Songbook features a host of well-known country music tracks that Cassar-Daley and Harvey have performed numerous times over the years.

The song list features work by their biggest personal influences including Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Hank Williams, Glen Campbell, and Aussie country music icon Slim Dusty.

The Daily Examiner will try to catch up with Cassar-Daley after this latest success but it might not be easy as his has been recovering from throat surgery and getting ready to hit the road to the support the launch of the album.
