VOICES became artists tonight on The Voice.

The highly anticipated first half of the show's grand final featured the four finalists singing original songs for the first time in front of millions of viewers.

Karise Eden and Darren Percival both performed emotional songs written about their sometimes troubled pasts.

"There were times when I wasn't very happy at all actually," said Percival, who looked over the moon to be in the V Room with his wife and daughter.

Teen Rachael Leahcar paid tribute to her coach and idol Delta Goodrem in her original song Shooting Star, while Sarah De Bono's original song Beautiful was an uplifting ballad.

The last-chance live performances reaffirmed the talents of the four finalists, who also performed covers.

Coach Joel Madden and his father-in-law Lionel Ritchie added a bit of star power to the night.

The pair sang Ritchie's hit Easy (Like Sunday Morning).

Voting closes at noon tomorrow ahead of tomorrow night's grand final winner announcement.
