WHEN Lauren Argent found herself building a new house, she decided to add a commercial kitchen as a contribution to the local community.
Lauren is a chef by trade, having worked in the food industry for about 35 years.
Twelve of those she dedicated mainly to Sassafras in Yamba.
Now she has started up Yamba Catering, not your average catering business.
Her goal in opening a catering business is to provide meals for those people who lack the time to cook for their families, and others who are unable to cook for other reasons.
The daily menu is updated via Facebook, with each meal depending on what local produce is in stock.
Despite the picks of delicious desserts, the most ordered meals are mainly nice and healthy.
"People really like the really home-style stuff," Ms Argent said.
"Like curries, fresh salmon and lasagne."
