BREAST cancer and the ongoing emotional effect of mastectomy surgery have led to the development of breast prostheses.

Women of the Clarence Valley who have undergone this emotional breast surgery now have the opportunity to be fitted for prostheses by an expert.

Carmell Sanne, of the Hope Chest in Grafton, is proud to be hosting the event.

“I think that it is an excellent opportunity for the women of the Clarence Valley to be fitted in and educated about the latest in breast prosthesis technology,” she said.

Glenda, a representative from breast prosthesis development company Amoena, will be holding two fitting sessions on Thursday, July 2 and Friday, July 3.

Amoena offers a range of products to help women return to normal life after breast surgery. The products also help women to regain self confidence and a quality of life after treatment.

The company offers advanced technology for temperature balancing and preventing perspiration built up, and has developed a self-adhesive breast form and swimwear technology that allows women to have an almost limitless choice in fashion and activities after surgery.

Amoena also updates its breast form shapes and materials in to work in conjunction with the latest surgical techniques and offers a range of products to aid with a variety of surgery types.

All products are designed to move like a natural breast and feel like a part of the wearer.

Medicare have realised the importance of these products and has recently introduced a rebate of up to $400 per breast prosthesis.

Glenda will visit the Brest Cancer Support centre in Yamba on Thursday, July 2 for a seminar before visiting Grafton Base Hospital the next day. Fitting sessions will take place with Glenda after each seminar at the Hope Chest in Grafton.

Booking are essential and can be made through Carmell at the Hope Chest on 6642 7309.
