WANT to know what to do in an emergency?
You are probably better off asking an eight-year-old, following yesterday's emergency service spectacular at Maclean Showground.
More than 500 children from 12 schools across the Valley were given training on what to do in a fire, how to dial 000 and even how to avoid getting beaten up by a kangaroo via the 'roo roll'.
The third and fourth graders rotated around stalls of the Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service, NSW Fire Brigades, surf life saving association, police, National Parks service and Fisheries to get a half-hour lesson.
“It's great to see the smiles,” organiser Janine Rudder said.
