A NOTORIOUS Pacific Highway black spot near Corindi claimed another victim when a 54-year-old motorcyclist crashed his Harley Davidson on Sunday.
The man, from Toormina, was taken by helicopter to Coffs Harbour Health Campus and then to Royal North Shore Hospital with serious head and chest injuries.
The Blackadder Creek corner, about 1km north of the Corindi turn off, has claimed six lives in the past eight years and is the subject of a Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) inquiry to improve the section of highway.
An RTA spokesman said the RTA is looking at potential improvements on the Pacific Highway in the vicinity of Blackadder Creek to improve road safety and flood immunity.
“The cause of the recent crash on this section of highway will be considered in these investigations,” he said.
“This section of highway will be bypassed when the proposed upgrade to the Pacific Highway between Woolgoolga and Wells Crossing is complete.”
Yesterday the man was in neurosurgical intensive care. His condition was listed as critical but stable.
