GRAFTON Aged Care residents were last week given the opportunity to reminisce on their special wedding day.

In a day dedicated to showing off wedding dresses worn or made by residents, staff or relatives, many special memories were created.

Resident Coral Frame had a career in dressmaking and a wedding dress that she had made over 20 years ago made its way back to the home.

The dress had been made for one of the women's daughters that worked at the home and had been held onto as a keepsake.

Recreation and activity officer Colleen Wiblen said they often held theme days the residents could get interest and enjoyment out of.

“We like to organise days where the oldies reminisce and have a chat about things they have in common,” she said.

“This one was particularly special because Coral used to be a dressmaker and it was pretty interesting seeing the work that had gone into it.

“Staff modelled the dresses and we had gowns from as recent as one year old to 70 years old.”
