Staff at Dick Smith Electronics had their final Jacaranda Thursday rehearsal yesterday for their rescue services themed show. Pictured are, from left, Karl Voeks, Simon Boatswain and Corey Montford.
TODAY the town turns purple and people will be dancing in the streets for the traditional Jacaranda Thursday celebrations.
Everything from street performances to window displays, purple foods and coloured hair dye will bring the town to life.
Clarence Valley Mayor Richie Williamson will start his day off with breakfast at Market Square before making his way down Prince Street to check out the day’s festivities.
“It is a fun day to be out and about to see what’s happening because I don’t think there would be any other town in Australia celebrating a day or festival like we do,” he said.
“I quite often wonder what a traveller that arrives in town on the day with no prior knowledge of the festival thinks ... they must walk away with great memories.”
A Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson said Grafton could expect showers and thunderstorms towards the afternoon with a top temperature of 28 degrees for the day.
