GRAFTON sweltered for a third consecutive day yesterday, and it’s not going to get any better for the rest of week.

The maximum temperature in Grafton yesterday was 37 degrees, following Monday’s 36.6 scorcher and Sunday’s 32.4 high.

A Weather Channel spokesperson said there would be a slight reprieve today – if you consider 33 degrees to be a reprieve – before consecutive days of 37 and 38 degrees respectively tomorrow and Friday.

She said the hot temperatures were the result of a build-up of heat over the last month. The spokesperson said a cold front developing over Western Australia would hopefully push away the mass of hot air over the next week.
