A temporary walkway is lifted from the barge below that will allow access between the two towers while the works are being carried out.
A RARE perspective of the Harwood Bridge has been captured by a small helium-filled blimp launched from a boat on the Clarence River last week.
Motorists below may have caught sight of the red and white aircraft as it was manoeuvred to snap photos of the work being carried out on the bridge, including the highest and heaviest barge lift on the project to date, a 6.5 tonne temporary catwalk that spans the bridge.
Remotely operated from below, a digital camera was able to hover silently to heights of up to 120 metres in the underbelly of the blimp – higher than a pole, lower than an aircraft and extremely close-up to a subject.
The RTA commissioned the photography to document and assist with the planning of the current works.
