Ambassador meets local heroes

AUSTRALIA Day ambassador Mary-Ruth Mendel says she thoroughly enjoyed meeting great Australians who embodied the Aussie spirit during her travels.

Clarence Valley Australia Day ambassador Mary-Ruth Mendel attended events yesterday.

AUSTRALIA Day ambassador Mary-Ruth Mendel says she thoroughly enjoyed meeting great Australians who embodied the Aussie spirit during her travels as an ambassador.

“Hearing the stories behind the faces is a brilliant experience,” she said.

“It is a great privilege to be involved in such a great community event.”

Mary-Ruth is a literacy and language pathologist and co-founder of the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation.

“I work mainly with indigenous Australians and refugees to improve their literacy and language skills,” she said.
