CELEBRITY Chef and restaurateur Matt Moran has gone national with his love of Yamba Prawns after being quoted in The Daily Telegraph saying “if there’s a better prawn anywhere else in the world, I don’t know about it.”

The top chef and owner of Sydney’s iconic Aria restaurant has just set up Aria in Brisbane and said to The Daily Examiner that when he can, he loves to feature the famous crustacean on his menu.

“Yamba prawns are known internationally for being the biggest, the sweetest and, more importantly, the best,” he said.

“They are kind of like the Sydney rock oyster; everyone has heard the name and would love to try them.”

A while ago, Matt was doing the drive between Brisbane and Sydney while setting up his new restaurant; he stopped into the beachside village in the hope of trying the local fare in their habitat.

“I stopped in and you know what? Couldn’t find a Yamba king prawn in the place,” he said.

“It was a little disappointing to be honest, but I have enjoyed them countless times in the metropolitan areas.”
