IF free access to a fitness trainer can’t get you motivated to join the Clarence Valley’s biggest loser weightloss competition, then maybe the combined 542kg that 2008 competitors lost will.

The Grafton Midday Rotary Club is running its third weightloss competition to promote healthy lifestyle and well-being in the Valley.

Past president of the Rotary club and competition organiser Margaret McKenna puts last year’s low number of competitors down to the cold weather but said this year they had made changes to make this year’s biggest loser challenge as successful as the first.

“I hope people take advantage of the free workout sessions and get involved this year,” she said.

In 2008 more than 140 savvy challengers took part in the competition, with the 93 who weighed in at the final session losing a massive 542 kilograms over the three-month program.

Monthly weigh-ins, free training sessions with a professional and $1000 prizemoney for a charity of your choice are up for grabs to encourage teams to sign up and shed some kilos.

Organisers have extended the sign-on day until Wednesday, March 10 and registered competitors will receive their starter kit and be up for their first weigh-in on Saturday, March 13.

“I would encourage both individuals and teams to enter the 12-week challenge,” Ms McKenna said.
