John Blanch takes on the Examiner

WESTLAWN’S John Blanch has enjoyed a stellar season in the Premier League, taking a record 50 wickets at 8.44.

Today he faces an even bigger challenge – two former First Graders with mouths as big as their guts.

Week after week Blanch continues to impress, taking wickets almost at will, and week after week two employees at the Daily Examiner seek answers to his dominance. Aging warriors Nick Inmon and Dan Firth are eager to find out some of the secrets to the success of Westlawn’s gun bowler.

D-day has arrived. At 12pm today at Lower Fisher Park Inmon and Firth will get their chance to put up or shut up. Blanch has agreed to give up his time and bowl six deliveries to each batsmen and said he is quietly confident Inmon and Firth will soon find out the reason Premier League players struggle against his ‘hand grenades’.

Some of the best batsmen in the Clarence have been bamboozled by his left-arm medium pace deliveries, so how will the duo go?

“I think I should do OK against him. It will be interesting,” a confident but out-of-form Inmon said.

Firth added: “I’ll treat him as I do with most left-armers...with contempt.”

Strong words from two guys who have been away from the game for several seasons. “Bowling to Nick will be no problem but Dan might be more of a challenge,” Blanch said.

Employees at the Examiner hope Inmon and Firth fail to deliver with one staff member saying ‘I hope Johnny provides plenty of chin music’.
