BUSWAYS appears to have no intention of operating a service in Pound Street, Grafton, despite Clarence Valley Council closing the Prince Street bus-stop outside the Saraton Theatre more than a month ago.
“Prior to the removal of the bus-stop located at the Saraton Theatre, Busways was aware of council’s request to investigate the relocation of the stop to Pound Street,” a statement provided to The Daily Examiner from Busways read.
“As stated, whilst these investigations were underway, relocating the bus-stop to Pound Street serves no purpose as our route network does not service this street.
“Busways understands that the proposed relocation of the bus-stop to Pound Street was discussed at a recent traffic committee meeting and will be discussed further at an upcoming council meeting. To our knowledge, the bus-stop has not yet been established.
“We do not currently operate services in Pound Street or King Street and will not be doing so in the foreseeable future.”
Mayor Richie Williamson said council was in the process of looking at potential bus-stop options.
“We are certainly discussing a Pound Street location,” he said
