RTA employee 'denied justice'

DEB Hoskin's life has been left in limbo for the past 17 months.

The 50-year-old RTA employee from Lawrence is facing 97 allegations of bullying, harassment and intimidation during her employment as a business support officer at the Pacific Highway office in Grafton.

Due to the strict terms of her contract Mrs Hoskin, who hasn't worked since April 8 last year, had been advised not to discuss the case with the media.

Mrs Hoskin's lawyers, Slater and Gordon, released a statement yesterday calling on the RTA to finalise their investigation so she could get on with her life.

“The investigation has been going on for 17 months and has not been concluded,” the statement said.

“It is our view Mrs Hoskins has been denied natural justice and procedural fairness.

“It is one of the worst cases we have seen of justice delayed being no justice at all.”

An RTA spokesperson said it had a zero tolerance policy to workplace harassment, intimidation and bullying.

“Reports of behaviour or instances that staff may believe constitute bullying, intimidation or harassment are taken seriously and are considered case-by-case. Each case has its own complexities and is treated on its merits,” the spokesperson said.
