<strong>UPDATE 3.11pm:</strong> THE Bureau of Meteorology has cancelled a severe weather warning for flash flooding for people in the Northern Rivers district.

UPDATE 3.11pm- THE Bureau of Meteorology has cancelled a severe weather warning for flash flooding for people in the Northern Rivers forecast district.

A broad low pressure trough extends from southwestern Queensland into northeastern New South Wales and a slow-moving upper level trough lies over the north of the state.

The severe weather warning for the Northern Rivers forecast district has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.

For 24h till 9am Thursday Bellingen has received 211 mm of rain, Woolgoolga 208 mm, Dorrigo 141 mm, Couchy Hill 137mm and Naminbah 141 mm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

  • Keep clear of fallen power lines.
  • Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
  • Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
  • Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.
