A CONTINGENT of 48 Chinese students from the Xi Cheng Foreign Language School in Beijing have sat in on Clarence Valley Anglican School classes since yesterday as part of their language and cultural studies.

CVAS principal Tim Grosser said the students would spend two days at the school before leaving this afternoon.

"The visit is an opportunity for them to spend time in Australia on a home stay, exposing them to hearing the English language as it is spoken here as well as the Australian culture," he said.

Mr Grosser said the students were the equivalent of Years 7, 8 and 9 and would attend those classes during their visit to the school.

He said the visitors would break into small groups and attend a wide variety of classes on both days of their visit.

"It's a good learning experience for our students as well," he said.

"They have a different focus on learning which our students can take on board."
