Winner of the Major Singles Penny Gee (left) with runner-up Wendy Haselum.
THIS shot of bowlers Penny Gee and Wendy Haselum may not rival the famous mud-drenched photo of Arthur Summons and Norm Provan leaving the field following the 1963 rugby league grand final.
But the match was played in much the same spirit, as the two bowlers went head to head against mother nature to complete the Maclean Major Singles Championship.
As the social bowlers retreated into the climate controlled comfort of the bar, Gee and Haselum played on, ignoring the persistent rain until a result had been determined.
Eventually it was Gee who prevailed 31 - 11 over Haselum to claim the major singles title on the Maclean Women's Bowling club calendar.
Gee now qualifies for the state run Champions of Champions event, which pits club champions from around the state against each other. Good luck Penny, may the sun shine warm upon your face and the wind help your bias.
