The B-double and a Countrylink bus which collided on the Gwydir Highway on Friday afternoon.
THE BUS driver killed in Friday's horror smash on the Gwydir Highway west of Grafton has been named as 63-year-old Inverell man, Neil Harmon.
Mr Harmon was driving a Countrylink bus containing seven passengers from Moree to Grafton at about 3.35pm on Friday when the bus collided with a westbound B-double truck about 81 kilometres west of Grafton on the Gwydir Highway.
Harmon suffered significant injuries in the crash and died at the scene.
All seven passengers on the bus were treated at the scene for minor injuries and shock and were later transported to Grafton Base Hospital.
The uninjured 56-year-old truck diver was taken to Glen Innes Hospital for medical checks and mandatory blood and urine tests.
The Gwydir Highway was closed in both directions until about midday on Saturday while police from the Oxley Crash Investigation Unit and the Forensic Services Group investigated the scene.
A report is now being prepared for the NSW Coroner.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or the events leading up to it to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
McColl's Transport - the freight company which owns the truck involved in the crash - has launched its own investigation into the incident.
McColl's Transport CEO Simon Thornton expressed condolences to the family and friends of Mr Harmon and said answers were being sought.
"We are assisting the police and the coroner with their investigation," Mr Thornton said.
