MOST surfers will happily tell you getting out on the water is one of the best experiences life has to offer; unfortunately this is something many people with a disability may never get to experience.

The Disabled Surfers Association (DSA) Far North Coast wants to change that and is giving Clarence Valley residents of all ages with a physical or intellectual disability the chance to experience the thrill of surfing at Minnie Water on Sunday.

DSA Far North Coast president Diana Willis said participants were welcome to come along to the group's annual surf day from 10am on Sunday to Minnie Water Beach where they will be able to learn to surf under the watchful eye of experienced volunteers and surfers.

"All they need to bring is their bathers; we have rash-shirts, sun cream, water, lunch and it's all free for them," Ms Willis said.

For more information about the event or to volunteer, call Ms Willis on 0404 482 492.
