ONCE again the weather played a role in Monday night's match between Tucabia-Copmanhurst GI Hotel and Brothers Clocktower Hotel.
Before the rain and lightning put an end to proceedings Brothers finished their innings at 9-117 off 29-overs.
Chris Adamson was the pick of the Tucabia bowlers taking three crucial wickets including the prize scalp of Brothers captain Mick Summers (pictured)
In reply Tucabia were 2-42 before the heavens opened up.
"It ended up being a washout. We went off a couple of times but in the end the conditions were too dangerous," Tucabia all-rounder Matthew Pigg said.
"Credit must go to the umpires who did a great job trying to get a full game underway.
"You need to face 15-overs to constitute a game. Brothers run rate ended up being 4.03 and we were on target before the rain."
According to CRCA Daily Examiner correspondent Jeff Hackett both sides will receive four points for a draw which makes for an interesting scenario next week.
"We have two games remaining. South will play Westlawn on Monday night and on Tuesday night Tucabia are up against Coutts Crossing," Hackett said.
"Tucabia are now on top of the table on 23 points with Coutts one point behind.
"If Coutts are defeated on Tuesday they will end up on equal points with Tucabia.
"No points will be awarded to Tucabia in that match as they were the team drawn out to play an extra game to allow Coutts to play five games."
Tom Kroehnert's South Services side are still in with a chance to feature in the finals if they record a victory over Westlawn.
