'Bingo sheilas' mob Bob

IT WAS like Justin Bieber was in town, according to one source who saw the reaction from the ladies lined up outside the RSL yesterday when Bob Katter walked down the street.

"Some of those bingo ladies take advantage of me," he joked, clearly loving the attention,

"It's lucky for me I'm made of strong moral fibre."

"I told them word had got around that I was in town and that's what made all the good-looking sheilas come out."

The crowd of 50-odd women yelled and whistled when they got a glimpse of the man who formed his own political party - Katter's Australian Party.

"A lot of the bingo ladies are devils; they're definitely my sort of mob," he said.

Mr Katter said it reminded of him days as a university student outside Lennon's Hotel in Brisbane when the Beatles came to town.

"I'm used to being mobbed by sheilas," he laughed.

Mr Katter was not only mobbed by "sheilas" but media of every persuasion was also in town to catch up with the man of the moment and his Gympie candidate Shane Paulger.
