$10k cheque shows Valley cares

A FUNDRAISER run by the Friends Who Care group has seen in excess of $10,000 raised for the Grafton Base Hospital's palliative care ward.

More than 270 people filled the Grafton District Services Club on Saturday night in what organiser Denise Barnier dubbed the event "bigger than Ben-Hur".

"We thought we would have about 200, but it just keeps getting bigger each year," Mrs Barnier said.

The GDSC came on board with the fundraiser, supplying all meals to the cause, meaning all money raised could go directly to the GBH.

The Friends Who Care group thanks all who attended and donated to the cause.
