$10m lotto win discovered as Qld dad cleans out his wallet

A QUEENSLAND dad's Monday morning wallet clean-out has ended with him discovering a winning Powerball ticket worth $10 million.

The tradie in this 30s, bought the ticket for a draw in late November then failed to check it in the weeks that followed.

Because his entry was not registered, the newsagency where he bought the winning entry couldn't track him down.

Now after Powerball and the newsagent tried to track down the mystery winner, the lucky dad has emerged.

"When i checked this ticket I was stunned," he said.

"I wasn't sure so I checked it again and again.

"Oh, I just couldn't believe it. I got the fright of my life. I'm just so overwhelmed."

The ticket was sold by the Chatswood Hills News and Casket Agency in Springwood.

Owner Soni Dahiya said he was thrilled the prize had been collected.

"We're so happy the winner has discovered his win," he said.

"The win has been the talk of the area for more than a week. We've had a lot of people coming in to check their tickets and asking if the winner has been found yet."

The winner -- who has not been named -- said he has "no idea" what to do with the cash.
