180kg in drugs and $2 million found in Melbourne drug raids
A SERIES of raids across Melbourne have netted more than 180kg of drugs, $2 million cash, and three casino chips in a massive week for law enforcers in Victoria.
The latest raids overnight came about after Customs officers found about 50kg of methamphetamine hidden in a consignment of porcelain toilets.
After testing confirmed it was methamphetamine, officers ran a sting operation leading the arrest of a 33 year old man in Southbank, before raiding six more properties this week.
The series of raids brought in another $70,000 cash and three $1000 casino chips.
Although unconnected with previous drugs seizures earlier in the week, the series of joint crime commission, federal and Victorian police operations, netted 185kg of drugs this week, after 135kg of ice was taken off the streets.
Other operations around the country this week brought in more drugs and cash, with joint raids overall taking in 220kg of drugs and $2 million in cash out of circulation.
The 33 year old arrested in relation to the latest Melbourne raids now faces a potential life prison term.
