2014 Logies red carpet: lovely ladies in lace

LACE was the texture of this year's Logies red carpet.

Coming in many different colours and patterns, the sheer material was the top choice for celebrities and actresses walking the carpet of tonight's 56th annual awards in Melbourne.

Designer Alex Perry, who created red carpet co-host Sonia Kruger's red gown, said the spotlight should always be on personality and individual beauty.

"I don't think there are any trends on the red carpet. I think everybody has a go at doing something," Perry told APN.

"What I do like is girls who wear things that have more fashion credibility… make it look a little bit more fashion, a bit more considered. Relax on the hair and accessories and just look beautiful. Let your own personality and beauty come through."

Crashing the red carpet with a bevy of bikini clad girls was Housos and Bogan Hunters star Pauly Fenech, who was sporting a pair of white thongs with his suit.

The Sunrise crew arrived with an unusual guest, the morning show's Cash Cow.

The Biggest Loser trainer Shannan Ponton said it was a challenge to get dressed for this year's awards, thanks to a recent shoulder reconstruction surgery which sees his arm in a sling.

Viewers voted Carrie Bickmore the Best Dressed of the night for her golden Paolo Sebastian gown.
