76yo man charged with having child exploitation material

A 76-YEAR-OLD man is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court in May, accused of accessing child exploitation material online.

Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) officers raided a Strathdickie property, north of Proserpine, on Wednesday, where they allegedly found a computer with child exploitation images and movies.

They arrested the man and alleged he also used peer-to-peer computer software to access the material on the internet.

He has been charged with possessing child exploitation material and using a carriage service to access child pornography.

The man has been issued a notice to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court in May, where he is also due to face a charge of unlawful possession of a weapon.
