Inner city brawl over soccer match ends with stabbing

SYDNEY police are still investing a stabbing during an inner-city brawl after a soccer match on Saturday night.

A 24-year-old man was stabbed in the back during the brawl, which happened as Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory fans left Moore Park in Sydney at about 10pm.

While police arrested and later released a 16-year-old teenager in relation to the brawl, officers were now seeking an "older man" for questioning.

The victim was taken to St Vincent's Hospital due to his injuries, and was later released.

Police reported being told a group of men "become involved in an altercation" after the football match, leading a brawl on the corner of South Dowling and Cleveland streets.

Authorities are seeking information from the public, through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
