WADA pursues vandetta against Kylie Palmer

OLYMPIC gold medallist Kylie Palmer is determined to compete at next year's Rio Olympics despite accepting a provisional suspension for a positive doping test.

The 25-year-old was notified in April this year that a sample she provided at the world championships in Barcelona in July, 2013, had tested positive to a minute trace of a prohibited substance.

It's understood FINA initially decided not to pursue the matter but the World Anti-Doping Agency demanded the case be re-opened.

Palmer, who won a gold medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and a silver in the same event at the 2012 Games in London, has categorically denied knowingly taking any prohibited substance.

Despite that, she has withdrawn from the Australian team for the coming world championships in Russia, and accepted the provisional suspension while the matter is investigated.
