Young Australians more stressed than retirees

YOUNG Australians are more stressed than retirees and nearly one in seven people have reported depressive symptoms, a psychological survey has found.

The Australian Psychological Society surveyed confirmed rising levels of stress among Australians, with one in three citing work as a key reason.

Respondents said the top sources of stress were money issues at 52%; family at 47%; personal health at 43%; maintaining a healthy lifestyle at 41% and health of friends at 38%.

More than 70% of Australians reported current stress was having at least some impact on physical health, with almost one in five reporting that current stress was having a strong to very strong impact on their physical health.
