Abrahall takes highest score

A GRAFTON Rifle Club RCTS event was held on Saturday, with a field of 38 shooters lining up from the 30 mark.

Conditions were fine, with nil wind.

Top off rifle was Nick Abrahall with 97 (with 6). Second was Greg Mills-Thom 93 (with 8). Third was Andrew Geary with 91 (with 8).

Eight possibles were shot, with Mills-Thoms and Abrahall shooting two and Lindsay Cole, Andrew Geary, Gary Irons and Mark Geary all shooting one each.

It is good to see a growing number of competitors. New shooters are always welcome. It is also particularly good to see the growing number of lady competitors, with eight attending this week, which was almost a quarter of the total competitors.

Three of the lady competitors this week, pictured from left, were Katrina Geary, Lorraine Geary and Maria Paull (ladies rimfire champion 2010).

Competitors are reminded that the annual prize giving dinner is coming up soon and anyone with a perpetual trophy is asked to return it to John Stone as soon a possible.

Next week is 100 yards Field Class, followed by Service Rifle.

The range is located on Trenayr Road opposite Koppers Logs.

Turn off at the Blue Goose and turn right just past the Red Lane turn-off.

The range is open from 8.15am on Saturdays for set-up, with shooting starting at 9am.

Sign-on times are from 8.30am to 9am.

Those who arrive late might not get a spot.
