Adams reflects on women’s jobs well done
IF YOU want a job done - ask a woman.
That was the message of the ever-influential Shirley Adams, OAM, who was credited with playing a major role in the Grafton Base Hospital upgrade.
At a ladies' morning tea, hosted by Member for Page Janelle Saffin, Mrs Adams joked about the committee of five men and one woman that led the charge on theupgrade.
"I was the one woman, of course, and I was the chair," Mrs Adams said.
"We worked our guts out and got into both sides of politics. "In my 40-odd years of living in Grafton, I've played a small part in the political scene," she went on to say.
"Janelle, I can look at you squarely in the face and say you are the only one that's done something for the Valley and Grafton."
