A CANADIAN airliner carrying 54 passengers swerved to avoid a suspected drone near Toronto early on Monday. Two cabin crew were slightly injured in the most serious case of its kind in Canada, according to officials. The Porter Airlines Bombardier Q400 twin-propeller plane took off from Ottawa and was at 2750m as it descended to Toronto's Billy Bishop waterfront airport, where the pilots spotted what they thought was a balloon in the air. They performed an evasive manoeuvre to avoid the object, said Genevieve Corbin from the Transportation Safety Board. She said it was most likely a drone. There have been many near-misses between planes and drones recently.
